Internship – Private Sector Donor Relations

Duties and Accountabilities

Under the direct supervision of Head of WFP Korea Office, within delegated authority, an intern will mainly have the following areas of responsibility:

 

    1.  Research, collect and analyse data on private fundraising market in the Republic of Korea

a.      Perform background research on target corporations:

screen potential donors to WFP, ensuring to the best of our knowledge that companies or individuals willing to become donors of WFP are suitable as partners of the humanitarian organisation.

b.      Conduct analysis of Creating Social Value (CSV) trends, develop strategy and partnerships with private sector and government-run conglomerates, and identify new funding sources

c.       Prepare sales pitches; prepare standard and specific proposals, thank you packages, and other reports required for acquiring and servicing WFP potential donors; and perform on-the-ground daily communications as needed.

d.      Monitor the daily news related with CSV

  1. Assist private sector donor management

        a.      Update donor information on donor database system (corporate/individual)

        b.      Forecast and track levels of donor contributions, monitoring fund transfers based on systematic gathering and updating of relevant       information; Gather and analyse information about donor policies, trends and preferences.

        c.       Keep donors informed of key policy and operational issues of importance to the Programme; submit funding proposals.

        d.      Respond to basic queries from the general public and current donors

  1. Plan and execute PR activities to promote WFP’s plan and action in private sector
  2. Translate requested documents in Korean and/or English language
  3. Create requested PowerPoint Presentation(PPT) materials for manifold purposes in Korean and/or English language
  4. Perform other related tasks as required

 

 

Duration of the assignment

6 months starting from July 2014.

Intern will work full time (from 09.00 to 17.30 hrs, five days a week), for six months minimum.

 

Expected Outputs

An Intern will be expected to show results in the form of a high quality documentations/contents prepared for fundraising proposals, brochures and publications that support raising awareness of hunger issues and WFP in the Republic of Korea. The research conducted by an intern will be used as basis for strategic planning of private fundraising in the Republic of Korea.  An intern will be also expected provide a quality input for updating corporate and governmental donor database and market information.

 

Required qualifications/background

Advanced English and Korean language skills;

Basic analytical ability;

Skills in developing sources for data collection;

Good computer skills- good command of PowerPoint Presentation(PPT) skill required;

Ability to work in multi-cultural team environment;

Ability to plan and organize work;

Resourcefulness; Initiative; Maturity; Tact; Advocacy skills.

 

Education: Students enrolled in University or Graduate School with experience and advanced training/courses in one or more of the following disciplines: Marketing, Business Administration, Management or other relevant field.

Work experience is an advantage.
